Students can make-up nine (9) excused absences for the semester. Note: Any combination
of fifteen (15) absences, non-suits and/or tardies may result in class failure. And any five (5)
may also lower your
grade one letter.
Criteria for absent make-ups
(For every absent, each of the
following must be completed before the end of the semester)
Part One… Written~ Read an article from any newspaper, magazine or internet publication.
These areas
include; fitness, sports, nutrition, and or
health issues.
1.
Summary of the
article in your own words should be no longer than 150 words.
2.
Title of the
article summarizing.
3.
Name of the
Magazine, newspaper, book or internet site.
4. Date of publication.
Part Two… Exercise~ thirty (30) minutes of any type of physical activity can be used as
long as it is done outside of school hours and
is not part of any school sports activity.
1.
Activity make-up
may include, but not limited to;
a. Supervised open gyms and weight training after school that is not
connected to in-season
athletic practice.
b.
Physical activity
around home, ie; running, sport games, in-line
skating, etc.
c.
Family physical
activities, ie; skiing or snowboarding, hiking,
swimming etc.
d. Any physical activity at a community recreational facility, ie; YMCA,
William Shore Memorial swimming pool,
community tennis courts, bowling alleys,
and community ball parks.
2. Include the exercise information on the same paper as your written make-up
work along with
the following information:
a.
Physical activity
b.
Date activity
occurred
c.
Time of day (30
minutes for each absent required)
d.
Student signature
e.
Parent/Guardian
or Supervisor’s signature
